Shawarma is an Arabic word which means “Turns”. This is basically a roll of Khubz with chicken, Tuna(fish) or Beef stuffing . Being an international favored food , this dish takes different souls (stuffing) in different countries. In India you probably find only chicken Shawarma (For obvious reasons), also for topping you would find Cucumber , onions covered in mayonnaise.

4. Kulukki Sarbath
This is not exactly a food rather a street drink , this article wont be complete without mentioning about this particular traditional soft drink made with lemon and few other ingredients. Kulukki in Malayalam means “Shake” which indicates the cocktail mixing style and Sarbath means “Lemonade, hence Shake Lemonade aka Kulukki Sarbath
- Lime juice-from 2 limes
- Sugar syrup / honey- 1/2 cup(as per sweetness)
- Kaskas/ basil seeds/sabja seeds-1tsp
- Green chilly sliced-1/4tsp (as per taste)
- Pineapple finely chopped-2tsp
- Mint leaves crushed-few(optional)
- Ice cubes-6
- Soak the basil seeds in water for about 10minuets, Drain it.
- In a jar or bottle mix all the ingredients well for a minute and serve soon.
3. Puttu & kadala curry
Putttu & kadala is no longer limited to breakfast. South Indians continue doing experiments on this dish and brought many different forms of it. There are even restaurants that focuses and sells only Puttu and kadala Curry .One of the famous restaurant is dheputtu in Kochi, which offers more flavoured and varieties than the normal puttu.

2. Thalassery Biriyani
If you have Malayalie friends , you guys would have noticed that whenever you go out out with him/her for dinner or lunch 99% percentage of time they consistently orders Biriyani. South Indian loves Biriyani and there are many regional specials , Chettinadu Biriyani ,dum Biriyani ,karaikudi Biriyani are few popular ones among them.
But Thalassery Biriyani is considered to the most flavored and delicious. Unlike other biriyani cuisines Thalassery biryani uses Kaima/Jeerakasala rice instead of the usual basmati rice.

And finally my personal favorite. Rice and fish curry is an awesome and legendary combination which you find in all parts of Kerala. And this combo becomes more special if the fish is Sardine aka “Matthi”
